Hi, I am Wendy Alas-Buda

I'm a documentary-inspired photographer based in Fort Collins, Colorado, specializing in natural headshots, personal branding, live music and theater photography, and intimate weddings and elopements.

With 20 years of experience in documentary-style photography, my work is rooted in observation, authenticity, and thoughtful storytelling. I don't just photograph people—I pay attention to them. My goal is to create images that feel honest, intentional, and uniquely yours while providing a relaxed, welcoming experience along the way.

Whether you're building your personal brand, stepping in front of the camera for the first time, taking the stage as a performer, or celebrating a meaningful milestone, I create images that help you feel confident, seen, and authentically yourself. I work with professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, artists, musicians, and couples who value photographs that feel genuine rather than overly posed.

I earned a B.A. in Visual Journalism from Brooks Institute of Photography in 2005, building a foundation in photojournalism and visual storytelling. My work has been published in the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, and Music, Inc., and my sports video work has aired on ESPN News. Throughout my career, I've photographed a wide range of subjects, from editorial assignments and live performances to portraits and weddings.

My love for storytelling extends into the performing arts. I've had the opportunity to photograph dress rehearsals for Chicago Fringe Opera, combining my passion for photography with my lifelong love of Broadway, opera, and theater. I enjoy capturing the energy, emotion, and artistry that unfold both on and off the stage.

After many years photographing weddings throughout the Chicagoland area, I now call Fort Collins home. My focus has shifted toward intimate weddings and elopements—celebrations that prioritize connection, meaning, and the moments that matter most.

I believe photography should be a welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone. I proudly support LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities and strive to create a space where people of all identities, backgrounds, and love stories feel comfortable being themselves. Whether you're planning an intimate wedding, a creative project, a performance, or a personal branding session, I would be honored to help tell your story.

Outside of photography, I'm a happily married, child-free woman, dog mom, volcano hiker, wildflower gardener, travel enthusiast, meticulous adventure planner, avid reader, self-portrait artist, and advocate for women's rights and marginalized communities.

If you'd like to work together, I'd love to hear from you. You can view my Investment page and get in touch with any questions or to book a session.
